Library hosts program focused on Oregon bees
CANBY – The Canby Public Library will hold a program titled “Mason Bees and Other Native Bees in Oregon” on Wednesday, March 15, at 4 p.m.
Attendees will hear about the essential role bees play in a balanced ecosystem and their importance of pollinating plants. This presentation will focus on the different types of native bees in the Willamette Valley, and the various kinds of habitat they need. The first 20 participants to sign up for this class will receive a free mason bee house.

Beavercreek church plans annual sale, lunch

College slates a bevy of musical performances
OREGON CITY - Clackamas Community College Music Department performances will take place in the Niemeyer Osterman Theatre, 19600 Molalla Ave., Oregon City. Instrumental Jazz at 9 p.m. on March 17-18 is a two-day annual Jazz Festival. Contemporary Music Ensemble and Singer-Songwriters at 7:30 p.m. on March 22 includes original student music and 1970s and '80s pop/rock favorites. Admission is $5. Pitchpipers host music event coming to Canby
CANBY – Songs of America returns to the Richard R. Brown Fine Arts Center for its 2023 edition. Hosted by the Oregon Trail Pitchpipers, this year’s show will be Saturday, March 18, at 3:30 p.m.
Joining the show will be the Invoice quartet, Mug Shot, and PDX Voices. The show is a celebration of America and freedom through song.

Vietnam commemoration set for Milwaukie
MILWAUKIE - American Legion Post 180, the Susannah Lee Barlow Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the city of Milwaukie and other local veteran service groups will commemorate Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day on Saturday, March 18, at 2 p.m. The event will be at Milwaukie City Hall, 10722 SE Main St.

Benefit performances slated for MHS and MAA
MILWAUKIE - A benefit show for Milwaukie High School/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts Theater Program will be held Saturday, March 18, at 7 p.m. at the JC Lillie Center for the Arts on the MHS campus. The event will feature the MHS/MAA ComedySportz Team and Bridge City Improv.

Aurora firefighters set annual egg hunt
AURORA – The District 63 firefighters annual Easter egg hunt will be Saturday, April 8, beginning at 1 p.m. at Aurora City Park.
Age groups are: 1-3, 4 years to kindergarten, grades 1-2 and 3-4. Bring your own baskets. Come early to meet firefighters and there are special prize eggs available.
Easter egg hunt set for after Easter

Living well with chronic condition focus of program

Arbor Day plant sale slated at Gladstone park

Repair Fairs getting started across the county
CLACKAMAS COUNTY - Clackamas County will be holding a series of “Repair Fairs” throughout the area in coming weeks. These are free community events that bring volunteers with fixing skills and people with broken items together.
Clothing, textiles, bicycles, small electronics and home appliances. We also do minor jewelry repair, and sometimes we have someone to sharpen knives and tools. Only bring items small enough to be easily carried by one person, and do not bring any items that are leaking, dangerous, dirty or have a strong odor. We do not do clothing alternations. All clothing must be clean. Repairers can turn down any items that do not meet these guidelines.
A maximum of one broken item per person will be examined at a time. After each item is examined/repaired, you must return to the registration table to be matched with another fixer volunteer for a second item.

County looking for local biking, hiking input
OREGON CITY – Do you like to walk or ride a bike in Clackamas County? The county would like to hear from you as it is updating its pedestrian and bicycle master plans to identify ways to improve walking, biking and rolling opportunities in the county.

Molalla looking for school board candidates
MOLALLA - The Molalla River School District Board is seeking interested citizens of the district to serve on the budget committee. Currently there are two positions open - Position #2 – term expires 2025 and Position #6 – term expires 2025.
To be eligible for applying for these positions a budget committee candidate must: live in the district; not be an officer or employee of the district; and be a qualified voter of the district.

MCC scholarship application process is open
MOLALLA - The Molalla Communications Company’s 2023 scholarship application process has begun. The scholarships are available to 2023 Molalla High graduates, as well as graduates from 2020-2022.
Criteria is:
Graduating or have graduated 2020-2023.
A “C” or better cumulative grade point average or GED completion.
Continuing education full-time at any qualified institution, college, university, technical or trade school.
Complete and submit applications by April 15, 2023.

Tractor training workshops set for June at NWREC
AURORA - The youth tractor training workshops that Derek Wells has been conducting at North Willamette Research and Extension Center in Aurora for more than 10 years have become very popular in the region.
They provide critical skills to 14- to 17-year-old students on safe operation of a tractor and its basic maintenance.
Trainees find these skills useful for farm-related employment opportunities. NWREC is offering two youth tractor training sessions in 2023.
The first session is from June 19 to 21; the second is from June 27 to 29. Each class can only accommodate 25 students and space fills up very fast. NWREC is also offering another short session for adults on July 19.
