Soccer players rake in honors

The local area had two male soccer players named “Player of the Year” by coaches in their respective classifications.

In Class 4A, La Salle senior defender David Leslie was named “Co-Player of the Year” with McLoughlin junior forward Oscar Flores. La Salle coach Joe Frimpong was honored as the Class 4A “Coach of the Year.”

In Class 6A, Milwaukie senior forward Dustin Corea garnered “Player of the Year” honors and South Salem coach Eric Johansen was named “Coach of the Year.”

Lake Oswego senior forwards Thomas Iwasaki and Ryo Asai were both named to the Class 6A first team, while Clackamas senior forward Jun Yoon made the second team.

Gladstone senior goalie Scott Gross and Gladstone senior midfielder Marco Thompson gained honorable mention in the Class 4A balloting, along with La Salle junior forward Steven Zychla.
