Rescue crews had to pry a man from his car after it crashed along S. Beavercreek Road Saturday.
Clackamas County Sheriff’s deputies said they received a call about the crash Saturday, Nov. 14, at 1:40 a.m. after a man showed up at a home on Beavercreek Road seeking help. The man, Shayne A. Pitard, 23, of Beavercreek, told the resident that he was in an accident and his father was stuck in the car.
Beavercreek Fire rescue crews were able to extricate the driver, Stephen D. Pitard, 47, and he was airlifted to Oregon Health and Science University Hospital in Portland.
Deputies reported that Stephen Pitard was driving a 1994 Lincoln sedan southbound on Beavercreek between S. Hereford Road and S. Heft Loop Road when he failed to negotiate a turn. According to deputies, the turn is listed at 25 mph and the car was traveling at 67 to 68 mph. The car struck a tree on the east side of the roadway.
Stephan Pitard remains hospitalized with massive head injuries. He recently returned to Oregon after living in Florida.
Shayne Pitard was then transported by an AMR ambulance to Oregon Health Sciences University Hospital, where he was being treated for a non-life threatening head injury sustained in the crash.
Deputies said alcohol and speed are being considered as contributing factors in this ongoing traffic crash investigation.
