Pedestrian critical after Highway 99E accident

A pedestrian is in critical condition after he was struck by a car while trying to cross Highway 99E in the Jennings Lodge area late Wednesday night.

Oregon State Police said Robert H. Thacker, 45, was trying to cross the road about 100 feet south of its intersection with Boardman Avenue at 11:38 p.m. Wednesday night when he was hit by a car traveling southbound toward Gladstone.

The car, a 1999 Honda Accord four door, was driven by Dale W. Beachwood, 55, of Beaverton. Thacker, with a last known address in S.E. Portland, was transported to Oregon Health and Science University by an American Medical Response ambulance crew. Beachwood was not injured.

Oregon State Police troopers continue to investigate the accident.
