Evelyn Katherine Gillard Huff Alexander
May 29, 1910-Dec. 5, 2008
Milwaukie resident Evelyn Katherine Gillard Huff Alexander died on Dec. 5, 2008, at age 98.
She was born Evelyn Katherine Craine on May 29, 1910, in Portland and lived her life in the area.
She had been employed as an administrator for the Canadian Imperial Bank.
She is survived by: daughters, Suzanne Alexander, Katherine Riley, Bev Ostby and Karen Santo; sons, Ted Huff Jr. and Russ Alexander; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Her first husband, Ted Huff Sr., and her second husband, Kenneth Alexander, preceded her in death.
A memorial service was held on Dec. 10, 2008, at the Milwaukie Lutheran Church.

July 18, 1943-Nov. 22, 2008
John Dennis Burke died on Nov. 22, 2008, at age 65.
He was born on July 18, 1943, graduated from Oregon City High School in 1961, attended Multnomah Community College and Clackamas Community College, the first year it was established.
He was an Air Force man and was stationed at Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota, working on the Hound Dog missile flown under the B-52 aircraft in the mid-1960s, and afterwards worked in the survey and road inspection profession.
He recently retired from the Oregon Department of Transportation after 33 years of service.
He is survived by: wife of 25 years, Diane; her daughter, Loren-Yvette Kaboth; his mother, Polly Margaret Burke; brothers, Michael William Burke, Harold Henry Burke and David Kim Burke.
His father, August William Burke, preceded him in death in 1986.
He enjoyed seeing the sights in his new RV and talking to friends and family.
Family members said he was a good man, son, brother, step-father and husband and had battled cancer courageously for over two years.

Dec. 15, 1959-Dec. 7, 2008
Donna Marie Craig died on Dec. 7, 2008, at age 48, after a long-term illness.
She was born on Dec. 15, 1959, in Seattle, Wash., and moved to Milwaukie from Corvallis in 1965. She graduated from Milwaukie High School.
She is survived by: mother and father, Norma and Stanley Craig; brothers, Scott, Paul, Dean, Tom and Joe Craig; daughter, Michelle Craig-Powell; life mate, Darrel Belgarde; best friend, Shawn Wootan; god-children, Hillary, Marie, Rachael, Margaret and Brenda Wootan; god-grandchildren, Trindy, Jaden, Alexa and Chase.
A memorial service was held on Dec. 15, 2008, at Kern Park Christian Church in Portland.

April 16, 1930-Dec. 8, 2008
Vernon Eugene Knowles died on Dec. 8, 2008, at age 78.
He was born on April 16, 1930, in Dodge City, Kan., and moved to Oregon City in 1969.
He served in the Air Force from 1951 to 1955.
He was retired and had been employed as a roller operator for Eagle and Elsnor Asphalt.
He is survived by: wife, Janice Knowles; sons, Vernon, Daniel, Alan and David Knowles; daughter, Linda Pope; brother, Wayne Knowles; sisters, Carlene Pinnick and Donna Fraley; and six grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on Dec. 12, 2008.

Feb. 6, 1918- Dec. 4, 2008
James M. “Jim” Milln died on Dec. 4, 2008, at age 90.
He was born on Feb. 6, 1918, in Portland, and when he was 2 years old his parents divorced and his mother took him to Hong Kong without permission.
His mother died when he was 8 and he was raised by his stepfather.
