Oregon business leaders will detail a proposal to jumpstart Oregon’s economy at the seventh annual Oregon Business Plan Leadership Summit on Dec. 11.
State and federal elected officials will lead discussions about forces affecting Oregon, and new opportunities that are emerging as the federal government constructs a national economic recovery package. More than 30 business leaders, Gov. Ted Kulongoski, Oregon Senate President Peter Courtney and Oregon House Speaker-elect Dave Hunt will participate in panel discussions, along with elected leaders from Oregon’s Washington delegation.
Joe Cortright, chair of the Governor’s Council of Economic Advisors, and Tom Potiowsky, Oregon’s state economist will present analysis of Oregon’s economic and fiscal position.
Panels of experts in manufacturing, forest products [and clean technology] will discuss global and regional prospects for their industries. Afternoon sessions include engagement with policy leaders on a variety of topics essential to job creation and economic growth. In addition, the winners of the Governor’s Sustainability Awards will receive their honors for advancing sustainable practices by businesses and other institutions.
The daylong event, this year entitled Keeping Focus in Tough Times, typically attracts over 1,000 leaders statewide. It will be held at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland. Registration information is available at www.oregonleadershipsummit.org.
