97-year-old Milwaukie woman hit, killed by car in parking lot

She was walking behind a Subaru that was backing out of a parking space

A 97-year-old Milwaukie woman was struck and killed by a car that was backing out of a parking space in an apartment complex parking lot along the 12200 block of SE 31st Place Saturday afternoon.

Milwaukie Police said Anna Hemming was walking behind a Subaru station wagon driven by Stanley Keltz, 79, of Milwaukie, while he was backing out of the space shortly after 3:30 p.m. Hemming suffered head injuries and was transported to Oregon Health and Science University Hospital, where she was declared dead shortly after arrival.

Police determined the ancident was accidental, and will not charge Keltz with a crime.
