Pets looking for a home at Town Center once a month

ADVERTISEMENTS

Beginning Saturday, Nov. 14, adoptable dogs from the Clackamas County Dog Shelter will be on the look-out for new families at Clackamas Town Center one day a month.

Clackamas Town Center, along with other General Growth Properties shopping centers around the country, is beginning the Bark Ave. & Meow Place program this fall to encourage pet adoption. Clackamas County Dog Services will be a key part of the program from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the second Saturday of every month.

Diana Hallmark, manager of Clackamas County Dog Services, said, “We are delighted with this opportunity to provide such valuable exposure for our dogs who need and deserve forever homes. Many families go to the Town Center on Saturdays, and this will provide an excellent opportunity for people to see and meet available dogs.”

County Dog Services staff and adoptable dogs, along with other area animal rescue organizations, will be located inside the upper level on the south side of the mall near Macy’s Home Store.

Paul DeMarco, senior general manager of Clackamas Town Center, said, "We support the efforts of Clackamas County Dog Services and their associated agencies to help pets in our community find loving and safe homes.”

County adoption applications will be accepted at the mall, and dogs will be able to join their new families after a 24-hour review process. Basic adoption fees are $55 for a dog under six years of age and $35 for a dog six years old or older. There are additional fees related to spaying or neutering, and rabies vaccinations.

Clackamas Town Center is located at 12000 SE 82nd Ave., east of 82nd Avenue, west of I-205, north of Sunnyside Road and south of Monterey Avenue.

Adoptable dogs can also be seen at the County’s new dog shelter at 13141 SE Highway 212 in Clackamas from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. More information, including photos of adoptable dogs, is available online at www.clackamas.us/dogs or by calling 503-655-8628.
